From Passion to Purpose

In 2022, an idea was born from the heart of a mother Watiri Awuah, who wanted her young sons, Kofi and Nana, then just 4 and 3, to grow up proud of their African heritage. Instead of relying on textbooks, she turned learning into joyful, hands-on play that celebrated Africa’s beauty and diversity.

Around the family table, Watiri created AfroBingo: African Countries & Flags Edition, a fun board game that helped her boys master the flags and countries of all 55 African nations. Within months, they could identify nearly every one; proof that learning through play truly worked.

That realization sparked a bigger question in Watiri’s mind:
“How many more kids, families, and schools could benefit from this?”

Growing Beyond the Game

From that question, We Cheza meaning “We Play” evolved into a mission-driven brand launched in 2025 dedicated to creating African-inspired educational games, books, and activities that make learning about Africa both fun and empowering.

Today, We Cheza continues to bridge generations and continents, helping children, families and institutions everywhere connect with their roots, strengthen memory and creativity, and most importantly play their way into pride and knowledge of Africa.
